The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), the leading Cypriot company in the field of electronics development SignalGeneriX Ltd, and the French Companies ARKEOCEAN, French technology leader in the field of swarms of AUVs, and LANEGO, French consulting firm for international development,  have signed a  Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen  proficiency and share knowledge in the marine and maritime sectors and to establish cooperation in Marine and Maritime Research and Innovation aiming at the development of new innovative products.

The MoU was signed today in Larnaca by Mr Zacharias Siokouros, CEO of the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute, Dr Tasos Kounoudes, CEO of SignalGeneriX Ltd, Mr Thierry Brizard, President of ARKEOCEAN, and Mr Philippe Amar, President of LANEGO.

The Parties will work together on projects of mutual interest by codeveloping technologies in marine robotics, swarms systems, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), underwater sensing, communications, and big data processing for use cases that include monitoring marine traffic, underwater communications, critical infrastructure protection, and monitoring of marine protected areas. In this respect, the parties will contribute to research and innovation in the marine and maritime industry.

The signature of the MoU not only paves the way for a promising future as far as research and innovation is concerned in areas of paramount importance which include among others:  underwater infrastructure monitoring, collection, processing  and communication  of underwater data, environmental monitoring, artificial coral reefs maritime health, aquaculture growth and underwater cultural heritage but it also strengthens bilateral relations between France and Cyprus, reaffirming at the same time our joint commitment in facilitating research exchanges and collaboration in marine and maritime science and technology.
